For over 40 years, Rockys Auto has been selling inexpensive cars to Denverites, but that chapter has drawn to a close. On Wednesday, their website, RockysAutosInc.com, was updated to say only “Rocky’s Autos is no longer in business as of September 6, 2022. Thank you.”
Rockys Auto was best known for their red hats, seen on homeless people all over the city, and their barrage of TV Ads, featuring Audra, Officer Odell, and of course, Shagman, played by Ron Vigil. On Tuesday, Shagman had this to say on Social Media: Rocky’s Autos has closed down. After 40 years of being a family business in an ever-aggressive industry, I’m proudly walking away with my head held higher than I thought I would. It was an honor and distinct privilege to work for an independent corporation with creative standards truly outside the norm, and I’d like to think I was a big part of it….. Now, does anybody have a job for me?
The original founder of Rocky’s still owns 7.4 acres of land at 64th and Federal, and it is currently on the market for just under $20 Million. If you’re in the market, here’s the listing.
