Colorado may not have the biggest or brightest Casinos in the world, but recently one of them experienced an Oceans 303 Scenario. It all happened on March 12th, while we were sleeping through Day Light Saving time. According to video evidence, Sabrina Eddy, an Employee of Monarch Casino in Blackhawk reached into the vault, and pulled out 6 stacks of bills worth $50 Grand each. She put them in a box, covered it with some rags, and taped it shut. Then she walked that box out to a Gold Minivan in the Parking Lot and drove off. About an hour later, she came back, and grabbed 4 more bricks of money, and drove away for a second time. In all, she walked out with half a million dollars in Cash.
Eddy is not denying what she did, but she says her bosses told her to do it. She says she got a phone call from her boss, who told her they were having some UPS issues, and if they didn’t come up with some cash, the casino would be in breach of contract. She also texted another manager to corroborate the story. She says she drove the money to St Anthony’s Hospital, where she gave the money to a man who said he was a lawyer, and that he would handle the UPS situation. After the drop off, she sensed something was suspicious, and called the Monarch to let them know what happened, and that she was on the way back to the Casino.
Eddy was locked up in the Gilpin Jail that Sunday Evening, and has not been able to make bail since. The Division of Gaming has made only one statement : No Comment.
