A car accident in Aurora, Colorado, on Saturday morning left two homes damaged and the driver with minor injuries. Investigators believe weather and excessive speed were contributing factors.
The Aurora Police Department (APD) reported that the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. when a northbound minivan on Peoria Street turned left onto Peoria Circle. However, the driver lost control due to speed and weather conditions, careening through a mailbox before colliding with two houses.
Security camera footage obtained by KDVR shows the minivan’s path, including its collision with the mailbox.
Sean Weed, whose house was one of those impacted, described the event. “I heard a loud bang and crash,” he said to the outlet. “The minivan came through our yard, hit the corner of my house, and then hit the neighbor’s house.”
Fortunately, no residents were injured in either home. While both houses sustained damage, Aurora Fire Rescue (AFR) deemed them structurally sound and avoided condemnation.
