Jake Salazar, a 5th generation Colorado native with deep roots in the business world, Jake will except the gavel April 10th and become Chairman of the Colorado Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. #IMFROMDENVER caught up with Jake to learn more about his background and his vision for the Chamber.
Salazar started young, opening his first company, a Benihanas franchise, at the age of 23. He’s since been involved in numerous ventures, including currently serving as Chairman of Solari Brands, the company behind the popular “Hip Shots” all natural energy and sleep shot. However, it’s his work with MMJ America, a pioneering cannabis company he co-founded, that he holds closest. During his time as CEO, MMJ America received the first medical and recreational marijuana licenses in Colorado and played a key role in the legalization movement.
While proud of his achievements in the cannabis industry, Salazar is now focused on giving back to the Hispanic community through the Chamber. The Chamber acts as a champion for Hispanic-owned businesses, advocating for legislation, providing access to resources like banking and legal services, and serving as a collective voice. With Hispanics comprising 30% of Colorado’s population, Salazar sees the Chamber as a bridge between this growing demographic and the business community. Looking ahead, Salazar aims to leverage digital marketing and social media to expand the Chamber’s reach and empower even more Hispanic entrepreneurs.
