Colorado Man Endures 14-Hour Torture Ordeal by Roommates, Beaten with Bats and Crowbars
In a horrifying case of betrayal, a Colorado man was subjected to 14 hours of brutal torture by his four roommates, who allegedly tied him up, beat him with baseball bats and crowbars, and assaulted him in a shocking act of violence.
Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were alerted after the 45-year-old victim arrived at Saint Anthony’s Medical Center in Lakewood with a disturbing story to tell. According to the man, his roommates had bound and beaten him for hours on end, leaving him severely injured.
The nightmare began when the man, who was in the basement of the home, overheard his roommates—49-year-old Jason Carlson, 48-year-old Sherell Allen, 39-year-old Jimmy Ray Smith II, and 41-year-old Luke Anaya—plotting to attack him. Desperate to escape, the man attempted to crawl out of a window but failed. He barricaded himself in a room, using anything he could to block the door. However, his attackers broke through, firing rock salt at him with airsoft-style guns before launching their vicious assault.
The victim was reportedly tied to a chair with zip ties and electrical tape, and his tormentors “took turns” hitting his knees with a baseball bat. The violence escalated when they poured rubbing alcohol on his face and set it on fire.
For over 14 hours, the man was tortured, both in the basement and upstairs, until two people entered the home and intervened, demanding the attackers stop. The victim was eventually taken to the hospital for treatment.
A SWAT team later arrested Carlson, Allen, and Anaya, all of whom are now out on bond. Meanwhile, Smith remains at large. All four suspects face serious charges, including attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping, and assault.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, leaving many questions surrounding this shocking act of cruelty.
