Aurora Man Narrowly Escapes Disaster as Driver Crashes into His Bedroom
An Aurora family is grateful to be unharmed after a driver crashed into their home Sunday night, causing major damage. The crash occurred around 9:45 p.m. near Vaughn Street and Uvalda Street, just one minute after 19-year-old Bryan Gordillo left his house with his girlfriend to grab food.
Surveillance video captured the shocking incident, showing the driver first hitting a neighbor’s home before plowing through the corner of Gordillo’s house, smashing into his bedroom and shoving a parked truck deep into the structure. Gordillo had been sitting in his room moments earlier.
“The car skipped the sidewalk, rammed through the corner of the house, and pushed the truck all the way into my room,” Gordillo said, describing the extensive damage to the home’s foundation and three walls. His parents and siblings were home at the time but were in another part of the house and escaped injury.
Video footage shows the driver fleeing the scene on foot. Gordillo returned home to find his room completely destroyed. The family is now staying with relatives while awaiting an insurance assessment.
Despite the ordeal, Gordillo is focusing on gratitude. “I’m just thankful I made it out alive,” he said. “It’s hard to think about what could have happened, but I’m choosing to look at the positive side.”
Aurora Police have yet to release information about the suspect.
