Parents Dead, Children Hospitalized After Fatal Rollover Crash on US 36
Two people died Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash on U.S. 36, according to the Colorado State Patrol. Troopers responded to the incident at 9:46 a.m. near Lefthand Canyon Drive.
The crash occurred when a Jeep traveling northbound veered off the road, crossed the center median, and rolled over. The vehicle came to rest in the southbound lanes of U.S. 36. Tragically, both adults in the vehicle — the driver and a passenger — were pronounced dead at the scene. Two children, aged 11 and 16, were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
The Colorado State Patrol confirmed that the deceased adults were the parents of the injured children.
The crash prompted the closure of U.S. 36 in both directions between Nelson Road and Neva Road. As of 2:40 p.m., the northbound lanes were reopened, but the southbound lanes remained closed at Lefthand Canyon Drive. Investigators continued their work at the scene throughout Wednesday afternoon.
