The holidays are here, and it’s the most wonderful time of the year in Denver right now!
We’re not talking about Christmas (although, of course, that’s exciting as well). We’re talking about the upcoming Horseshoe Flea Markets this holiday season — two of them, to be exact! As Denver’s Official Home for Lucky Finds, coming here means enjoying a fun time discovering indie arts and crafts, plus a variety of locally made foods, goods, and décor.
What Started it All
The Horseshoe Market — a flea market in Denver – used to be just a live Etsy shop in the city. It was just a small shop showcasing handmade and vintage items for everyone looking for something unique. Today, it is one of the largest flea markets in the state where thousands of people, locals, and outsiders alike, come to see what makes it “Denver’s best flea market.”
An Abrupt Halt Due to the Pandemic
The heart of the Horseshoe Market is to provide a unique showcase of our vendors’ fascinating goods and offers. Coming to the event means customers have a chance of taking these items home. You can go home with the best, luckiest finds from among the beautiful trinkets and items the market has to offer.
Unfortunately, the pandemic affected the market the same way it affected the rest of the world. The scheduled event came to a halt, canceled to ensure the safety of the vendors, the customers, and the locals. The good news is the Horseshoe Flea Market is back this year with two flea markets.
What To Expect These Coming Holidays
We have two Horseshoe Markets scheduled for the 2021 holiday season. After the pandemic halted the event last year, many vendors and artists lost one of the many local and seasonal events to showcase their products. Knowing this, the founders, Doug and Amy Yetman, knew they had to find a way to bring back the Horseshoe Market.
That’s why this year, we have two scheduled events made possible by Shop Local, an online directory the Yetmans created. The directory is now the home of more than 100 local vendors in Denver. It’s where locals and outsiders can find almost every local product, including clothing, housewares, bath and body essentials, gifts, and more.
Small Business Saturday and Sunday
The first event we have scheduled is the Horseshoe Market’s annual, biggest holiday market, the Small Business Saturday and Sunday. The event will be on the 27th and 28th of November, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. It will be an indoor event, and the venue is the former Salvation Army Headquarters in the Globeville neighborhood of North Denver.
Horseshoe Holiday Market
The second event is a smaller Horseshoe Holiday Market. It will happen on the 4th and 5th of December, also from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. The setting is Littleton, CO, at Breckenridge Brewery, and unlike the first flea market, this will be an outdoor event. Locals can expect heated tents erected on the property.
Connecting All Things Local in One Place
The reality of the pandemic made it challenging to keep the Horseshoe Market community engaged and supported. However, we wouldn’t let this dampen our spirits, so we’ve always looked for ways to keep this community alive. Thanks to Shop Local and everyone’s cooperation, we’re slowly building the economy back up from the ground.
