Before Fan Expo Denver… Before ComicCon Denver… There was StarFest. Starfest has been going on for 45 years, and this year will be their last.
Starfest is made up of 10 different conventions, so many different nerd cultures cross over there. There’s a fest for Models, Comics, Science, Board Games, Klingons and whatever your heart desires. And of course, people will be dressed up. StarFest is going on May 13-15 at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center, so if you see Spiderman, A Power Ranger and Yoda eating at Qdoba, now you know why.
Speakers this year include Brent Spinner, who was Data on Star Trek, as well as Terry Farell who played Dax. Nick Creegan from Batwoman will be there and Eddie McClintock from Warehouse 13 will too. There are also a bunch of Space engineers from Ball aero Space and Lockheed martin, so if you have Space Questions, they can help you out. Then, there are the panels. All kinds of topics are explored, like Apollo 11, Making Puppets, Dungeons and Dragons, Ghosts, Karaoke, Time Travel, and more.
The family who runs StarFest says ending the 45 year long run is not about the money… It’s just time to retire. The first Starfest was just a few weeks before the opening of the original Star Wars. Tickets are $25 on Friday, $50 on Saturday and Sunday, or you can get a 3 Day Pass for $75. They are available online, or at King Soopers.
