A Canadian man claims that his Tesla Model Y caught fire after suffering from an error message, which caused it to power down and start smoking before bursting into flames. “Everything stopped. The power didn’t work. The door didn’t open. The windows didn’t go down so I’m thinking I need to get the f*ck out of this car so I kicked through,” he said in interviews with emergency responders who arrived on the scene.
The owner reported kicking out the window of their vehicle because nothing else would work – including doors or windows.
It’s important to remember that while the primary way to operate the doors in a Tesla vehicle is through electronic releases, during cases of a loss of power, every door is also equipped with a manual release in plain view.
It can often be a problem for those unfamiliar with this safety feature.
This is probably a good reminder to familiarize yourself with the manual releases on the doors of your Tesla and in fact, a great reminder to get to know all the safety features for all your vehicles.
