For some reason, the people at LawnStarter, the UberEats of Lawn Mowing, made a list of the most Hipster friendly cities in America. Denver came in at a solid #8.
LawnStarter looked at the biggest 200 Cities in America, and compared their access to thrift stores and farmers markets. They also factored in other anti-cool activities like vinyl shopping to unicycle riding, and morning raves. Surprisingly, Portland, the Mecca of Hipster Life, came in at 3rd place. They did well in Food and Drink, as well as Lifestyle, but fell because of Fashion, which includes the number of Barber Shops, Tattoo Parlors, Urban Outfitters, and Thrift stores. New York took the Number one spot over all, with high rankings across the board. Los Angeles was number 2.
Denver did well in the Lifestyle Category, which includes number of Yoga Studios, Back Yard Gardens, Biker Friendliness, and Stoner Friendliness. We also did well in the Food and Drink Category, driven by number of Craft Breweries, Dive Bars, Farmers Markets, and Trader Joes.
Colorado Springs also made the top 100 Hipstery Towns list at #58, and Fort Collins came in at 65. On the not so Hipstery side of things, Aurora came in at 143, Lakewood is 154, and Thornton isn’t very hipster at all at 193 out of 200.
