Even if you follow Baseball, you may not have heard of Benny Montgomery, but his baseball Cards are already being sought out by collectors. Benny was Drafted Number 8 Overall, signed to the Rockies a year ago, and now he’s getting his bearings in the outfields of the Minor Leagues.
So why is a guy who’s never hit a Home Run at Coors Field gaining more collectors interest than the latest Harper or Judge cards? Boredom. Montgomery signed deals with Topps, Leaf, Panini, and Onyx, and in those deals, he has to sign a certain number of cards. Each series has a limited number of cards, and each card gets a signature. After a few hundred times writing “Benny Montgomery” he got bored, and decided to mix it up. With “Borat.”
I was wondering when I’d have to clear that up. I’m just waiting for this one to get pulled….?? pic.twitter.com/edO8L2cLYa

If you would like to search for “The Borat” card, you can find it in the Bowman Chrome Draft series, it’s card 10 of 150. A box of 10 Card Packs will run about $150, and people are offering up more than $3,000 for the Borat card. But that’s not to only interesting card to be on the lookout for. Benny has put some artistic touches on this card from another Bowman Series:
Update: I realized I had an apostrophe after the jet (which is grammatically incorrect (unless you’re talking about ?‘s (iykyk))), so I made stars. And gave myself a mustache. Because why not. pic.twitter.com/ye7EpVlR0o

The card that will probably be the most valuable, and have the most impact was a requested signature from a Blind Fan: A Braille Signature. You can find this in an Onyx Premium Set coming out later this summer, and it is a 1 of 1.
We love this 1 of 1 card! Thanks @benny_mont Look for this in our 2022 Onyx Premium product late this summer! pic.twitter.com/dHxkIvVr0f

With any luck, Benny will make it to the Big Leagues one of these days, but until then, be on the lookout for some of his one of a kind cards.
If you’re looking for cards, Bill’s Sports Collectibles on Broadway is a great place to start. They’ve been collecting in Denver since 1981.
