Brighton School District 27J, which serves about 18,000 students including those at Brantner, is one of more than 100 Colorado public school districts operating under a four-day week in order to cut costs.

Though four-day weeks are most common in smaller, rural districts — about 74 percent of Colorado’s 61 smallest districts operate on the schedule — Brighton is the largest, most urban district to move all its schools to a four-day week.
