The countdown can officially begin leading up to one of the most anticipated faceoffs between former featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) and former interim titleholder Dustin Poirier (27-6 MMA, 19-5 UFC). These two first fought at featherweight at UFC 178 in September of 2014. It didn’t take long for McGregor to take out Piorier that night, scoring a TKO win in less than two minutes. Since then, the two have each had their share of success, McGregor becoming a two-division champion, retiring, and making a comeback.
At the same time, Poirier worked his way into one of the greatest lightweights in UFC history.
Now, these two rivals will face each other in the octagon for the third and possibly final meeting this Saturday, July, 10th inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This sold-out event is the first MMA event that the city has hosted since COVID-19 began. At UFC 264, the nearly seven-year-long rivalry will end when one man has their hand raised.
