Denver Man Killed in Heated Argument Over Hot Sauce, Suspect Arrested
A 19-year-old suspect is now in custody after a heated argument over a bottle of hot sauce led to a fatal stabbing in Denver.
According to the Denver Police Department, officers responded to a report of a stabbing on Sunday in the 2300 block of North Federal Boulevard, located between the Sloan Lake and Jefferson Park neighborhoods. The altercation, which started as a verbal dispute, quickly escalated into violence, leaving one person dead.
A probable cause statement revealed that the argument began when a family member asked for the location of the hot sauce, and 19-year-old George Vigil replied that it was in an upstairs bedroom. What began as a simple question soon spiraled into a confrontation. Tensions rose, and the victim allegedly challenged Vigil to a fight.
Vigil, known to carry a switchblade, reportedly swung at the victim, causing the individual to collapse. Emergency responders rushed the victim to the hospital, but they were later pronounced dead.
Vigil is currently being held on suspicion of second-degree murder. Denver police are continuing their investigation, and the identity of the victim has not yet been released.
