Gilbert Gottfried, comedian, and actor, known for his talented voice work, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022. The Gottfried family released an official statement, “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilford Gottfried after a long illness.”

Born in Brooklyn, Gottfried started standup comedy at the young age of 15. The actor first stepped into the national spotlight with appearances on MTV in its early days and was also a cast member of “Saturday Night Live” from the 1980s to the 1990s. He has been credited for voicing many animated shows and films including Lago the parrot in Disney’s “Aladdin” in 1992 and as recent as voicing God in Adult Swim’s “Smiling Friends” in 2022.
