The Colorado Buffaloes overcame a slow start and a fired-up Kansas State crowd to defeat the Wildcats 63-50 on Sunday. The win propels Colorado into the Sweet Sixteen where they’ll face the winner of Iowa and West Virginia.
While no Buffalo player broke the 11-point mark, a balanced scoring attack and a dominant third quarter proved the difference. Colorado outscored Kansas State 19-7 in the third to take control of the game. Coach JR Payne credited her team’s unselfishness for the victory.
Kansas State’s Gabby Gregory led the Wildcats with 12 points, but the team struggled to overcome Colorado’s defensive pressure throughout the game. The loss marks the end of the season for Kansas State, while Colorado advances to the Sweet Sixteen for the second year in a row.
