Are you ready for a Roadtrip to ride a Rollercoaster? Glenwood Caverns in Glenwood Springs is adding another Rollercoaster to their fun park on July 9th.
The new coaster is named Defiance, which is the original name of Glenwood Springs. The town’s name was changed in 1885 to Glenwood. This new Coaster sits at 7,160 Feet above Sea level, and ascends high enough to give you a 56 second ride, including a 102.3-degree freefall (the steepest in the Western US), a 98-foot twisted top hat switch, a 111-foot banana roll and a 41-foot Zero-G heartline-roll. Basically the highest Looping Rollercoaster in the US.
Defiance is just the latest in an array of rides at Glenwood Caverns. They have a Cliffhanger Rollercoaster, and an Alpine Coaster, as well as a big Canyon swing, Zip Lines, and big swings. All at the top of a mountain. If action rides aren’t your thing, there’s also Gondola Rides, and caves to be explored. For an all inclusive pass, it’s going to run $67 a day. Glenwood Springs is roughly 2 and a half hours west of Denver, depending on Traffic and driving style.
