Commerce City Man Arrested After Waving BB Gun During Road Rage Incident with Toddler in Car
A man was arrested earlier this week in Commerce City after allegedly brandishing a realistic-looking BB gun during a road rage incident — all while a woman and a toddler were riding in his car. According to the Commerce City Police Department, a detective happened to be in the area of East 60th Avenue and Dahlia Street when the situation unfolded in real time.
Police said the man exited his vehicle and pulled what appeared to be a handgun, engaging in a heated confrontation with another driver. The detective quickly activated emergency lights, prompting the man to jump back into his vehicle and speed away. During the brief attempt to flee, he reportedly ran a red light before pulling into a nearby parking lot, where officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and arrested him at gunpoint.
Inside the car were a woman and a toddler, raising serious concerns about endangering the child. The suspect is now facing several charges, including child abuse, felony eluding, and disorderly conduct for displaying a weapon in a manner that caused public alarm. In a social media post, Commerce City Police emphasized the danger of such behavior: “The fear is real even if the gun isn’t. Stop pointing your weapons at other drivers when things don’t go your way on the road. We’ve seen far too much of this lately.”
