Denver Broncos mourn the passing of former quarterback Steve Tensi. Tensi was the team’s starting quarterback from 1967 to 1969 and briefly in 1970 before injuries forced his retirement. Acquired in a high-profile trade, Tensi was known for his strong arm and leadership.
Tensi’s teammates remember him fondly. Wide receiver Billy Van Heusen spoke of Tensi’s talent and positive attitude, while defensive end Rich Jackson highlighted his intelligence and winning spirit. Tensi’s career was cut short by injury, but he left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
After retiring from football, Tensi coached quarterbacks and receivers before embarking on a successful career in construction. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and other extended family members. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday.
