Heavy rain, lightning, and destructive hail slammed into the eastern Denver metro area on Thursday night.
The storms rolled through Erie and Broomfield first, unleashing hail the size of baseballs. They then continued east across Denver before clearing out around midnight. The National Weather Service expects significant damage from the hail.
Today, expect partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 70s. But don’t relax just yet – scattered afternoon storms are on the way, with the eastern front range and plains likely to see the worst of it. These areas face a marginal to slight risk of severe weather, including large hail, strong winds, and heavy rain.
Saturday will start sunny, with temperatures climbing into the mid-80s. Look out for more afternoon thunderstorms, again concentrated across the eastern plains.
