Denver sports radio station 104.3 The Fan announced major changes to its weekday lineup on Monday, September 18, 2023.
The most significant change is the departure of longtime afternoon show host Darren “D-Mac” McKee. McKee had been with the station for over 10 years. He was let go along with three other on-air personalities, Orlando Franklin, Nate Jackson, and Chad Brown.
The station’s new afternoon show will be hosted by former Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay and Zach Bye, who has been with the station for seven years. The show will be called “The Drive with Zach Bye and Phillip Lindsay.”
The station’s morning show, hosted by Mark Schlereth and Mike Evans, will be extended by an hour, running from 6am to 10am.
Station manager Katie Reid said the changes were made to “provide a stable and consistent listening experience for our audience.” She also said that the new lineup is “a reflection of the diversity of our city and our fan base.”
The changes have been met with mixed reactions from listeners. Some listeners are upset to see D-Mac and other popular hosts go. Others are excited about the new lineup and are looking forward to hearing Lindsay and Bye on the air.
Only time will tell if the new lineup will be successful. However, it is clear that 104.3 The Fan is trying to make changes to appeal to a wider audience.
