Deputies Reunite Centennial Man With Stolen Dog
A Centennial man experiencing homelessness has been reunited with his beloved dog days after she was stolen in a shocking incident.
Authorities say Garth Walker was standing at E. Fair Avenue and S. Jasper Way when a man approached and forcefully yanked his dog, Penelope, from him. The suspect pulled so hard that he ripped off her leash and harness, leaving Walker with a cut on his hand before putting the dog in his car and driving away.
Multiple witnesses saw the dognapping, and investigators were able to identify a suspect. On February 12, the man surrendered Penelope to the Aurora Police Department. Deputy Delarossa from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office then stepped in to reunite Walker with his dog.
The suspect is now facing charges of strongarm robbery and criminal mischief.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office shared an update on Facebook, confirming that Walker and Penelope are safe and staying at a local hotel during the cold weather.
