Thanks to the Denver Police Department shooting 6 people in LoDo a few weeks ago, Food Trucks have not been able to operate in that area. The city has released some new guidelines, to allow the food trucks to come back.
Only 7 Permits will be granted for the LoDo Area for the Hours of 5Pm to Midnight for Fridays and Saturdays. Three of those permits will the 2000 Block of Market, and four of them will go to the 1900 Block of Blake. Additional food truck permits will be issued, but those trucks must vacate by 9PM. There will also be restrictions for nights before holidays, like the day before Labor Day, and Thanksgiving Weekends. Most of these restrictions will shut down food trucks at 9PM on those days. Vendors will need to get their permits at least 3 days in advance, and may only operate one truck in the area on any given night.
These rules are just Temporary. They will run until February of 2023, and will be re-evaluated then. These changes could hamper Food Trucks and their profitability. According to one Food Truck Vendor, 80% of their sales come between 11PM, and 2 AM. With the new rules, they have to be wrapped up by Midnight. Failure to comply may lead to Fines, Loss of permits, or not being able to get future permits.
