Former Regis Professor Arrested in Wife’s Suspicious Death, Faces Wrongful Death Suit from In-Laws
A former English professor at Regis University, Myklebust, is at the center of a troubling criminal investigation and civil lawsuit following the suspicious death of his wife. Initially telling police she fell off a ladder, detectives quickly doubted the story after noting bruising and blood on Myklebust’s knuckles, scratches on his neck, and inconsistencies with the nature of the woman’s injuries. He was arrested shortly afterward.
The case took a darker turn with the filing of a wrongful death civil suit by his in-laws, Younghee and Uhwan Kim. The lawsuit claims Myklebust attempted to clean the crime scene using Luminol and alleges that bloody gloves were found hidden in the dryer. A photo included in the court filing reportedly shows Myklebust being escorted from the scene with visibly swollen hands wrapped in gauze and blood-stained clothing. The civil suit also revealed that the couple had previously lost a son, Bear, who died under unclear circumstances just nine days after birth—adding further layers of mystery, as both deaths remain officially undetermined.
Myklebust’s public defender has not commented, and a judge recently heard pre-trial motions ahead of a formal arraignment expected in May. As the investigation continues, the case has drawn public attention for its unsettling allegations and growing number of unanswered questions.
