Gunman Fatally Shot by Deputies
Douglas County deputies arrived at Main Event Highlands Ranch just before midnight after reports of an active shooter inside the popular entertainment center.
Upon arrival, deputies found an armed man in the parking lot. When ordered to drop his weapon, he turned it on officers, prompting a deputy to open fire, fatally wounding him. Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Violence Breaks Out Inside the Venue
Authorities said the parking lot shooting followed a violent confrontation inside between two women, one of whom opened fire.
- A woman was shot in the chest and foot by another woman, who was taken into custody.
- The injured woman was rushed to the hospital, though her condition remains unclear.
- Another woman at the scene was also hospitalized for a separate medical issue, but her injuries were not life-threatening.
Crowded Venue Witnesses Terrifying Moments
Main Event Highlands Ranch, which stays open until 2 a.m. on weekends, was packed with families enjoying activities like bowling, laser tag, and mini golf when gunfire erupted.
“It was packed. There were a lot of patrons still here when the shots rang out,” Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said. “This situation could have been much worse.”
Authorities have not yet released the names of the female shooter or the armed man killed by deputies. The investigation into the motive behind the violence remains ongoing.
