Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Robbery and Shooting
A man was robbed at gunpoint and later shot at after an intense car chase in Jefferson County on Friday night. The incident began around 6 p.m. when the victim pulled into his apartment complex parking lot in the 11400 block of West Burgundy Avenue. A man approached his car, pointed a handgun at the victim’s face through the open window, and demanded his wallet and phone.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim handed over his wallet but refused to give up his phone, resulting in the suspect striking him in the face with the gun. The suspect then retreated to a green Subaru parked nearby, and the victim decided to pursue him.
While following the suspect’s car north on Simms Street toward Belleview Avenue, the victim repeatedly rear-ended the Subaru. After one collision, the suspect’s vehicle became stuck on a large landscaping rock at Belleview Avenue and Owens Street.
In response, the suspect exited his car and fired multiple shots at the victim, hitting his vehicle. Fortunately, the victim was not injured. The suspect, along with a female passenger, fled the scene on foot into a nearby neighborhood.
Deputies conducted yard-to-yard searches with the assistance of a K9 Unit and Drone Team but were unable to locate the pair. Authorities are now asking anyone with information to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 303-271-5612.
