Family Seeks Justice After Beloved Dog Is Stolen and Thrown from Moving Car
The Ordonez family of Commerce City, Colorado, is grappling with the heartbreaking loss of their 12-year-old dog, Rambo, who was stolen from their yard and cruelly thrown from a moving vehicle. For Alex Ordonez, 18, and his family, the emptiness at home is palpable. “You don’t hear the door scratching or Rambo barking outside. It’s just different,” Alex shared, reflecting on the void left by their cherished pet, who had been with them since 2012.
On the evening of November 23, Rambo disappeared while the family attended a church event, leaving him in the yard to guard their home. Days later, they were shocked to learn from a Commerce City Police Department post that Rambo had been found under horrifying circumstances. A good Samaritan witnessed someone throwing Rambo from a car at the intersection of East 64th Avenue and Monaco Street. Despite efforts to save him, Rambo’s injuries were too severe, and he had to be euthanized due to a fractured spine.
The Ordonez family is devastated, especially as they didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. “We tried to give him the best life,” Alex said tearfully. “It really sucks when you spend 12 years with a dog who’s so close to your heart, and he’s just gone.” While Alex says he forgives the person responsible, the family is urging anyone with information to come forward to ensure justice for Rambo.
Commerce City police are still seeking leads on the suspect and vehicle involved. Anyone with details is encouraged to contact authorities.
