Denver, get ready to fall in love… with art, treasure, and maybe even a hundred bucks! Local artist Xander Phoenix is unleashing a “Heart of Money” treasure hunt across the city this Valentine’s Day, hiding 100 paper mache hearts, each crafted with 100 $1 bills!
Here’s the juicy twist: You find a heart, you decide its fate. Keep it as a treasure, share it with your sweetheart, or leave it hidden for someone else to discover. It’s an art installation, a love letter to Denver, and a chance to ponder “what is our worth?” all rolled into one!
“One of the questions that I’m hoping to inspire is like, what is our worth?” said local artist Xander Phoenix. “It’s a fun way to both create and connect community around some important themes. I hope everyone who goes out looking for the hearts and those who find them have as much fun as we’ve had creating and bringing this street art installation to life.”
Join the Adventure:
- Treasure Hunt Begins: February 14th, 10am (hunt ends around 2pm)
- Follow the Clues: Teams will hide the hearts, leaving clues on social media (#theheartofmoney) and the project’s Instagram and Facebook.
- QR Code Surprise: Each heart boasts a QR code, unlocking more info about the project and maybe even hints for other hidden hearts!
More Than Just Money:
This project isn’t just about the Benjamins. Xander created it in memory of his mother, an artist and activist, and hopes it inspires community, joy, and reflection. Find a heart and ask yourself: What does it mean to you? What will you do with its value?
