Two Suspects Detained After Crashing Stolen Car, Attempting to Steal Police Cruiser in Aurora
Aurora police detained two suspects on Saturday afternoon after a high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle ended in a crash and an attempted carjacking of a police cruiser. Officers initially spotted the stolen car near the Aurora Mall at South Crystal Street and Alameda Avenue and attempted a traffic stop. Instead of complying, the suspects fled, leading officers on a brief pursuit.
The chase ended when the stolen vehicle collided with another car at the intersection of Center Point Drive and South Sable Boulevard. Following the crash, both suspects attempted to flee on foot. One of them tried to steal a police cruiser, but an officer inside the vehicle quickly intervened and prevented the escape. The second suspect was also apprehended nearby.
Two occupants of the other vehicle involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. Aurora police have not yet released the identities of the suspects, and the investigation remains ongoing.
