Highlands Ranch Main Event Shooting Suspect Faces 104 Charges

The Denver woman accused of opening fire at the crowded Highlands Ranch Main Event now faces 104 charges, according to Douglas County court records.

Felony Charges Include Attempted Murder

Nevaeha Crowley-Sanders, 23, has been charged with 54 felonies, including:

  • Five counts of first-degree attempted murder (one after deliberation, four with extreme indifference)
  • One count of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon
  • 47 counts of felony menacing with a weapon
  • 47 misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment

The charges stem from a Saturday night shooting at the entertainment venue on Centennial Blvd., where Crowley-Sanders allegedly shot another woman in the chest.

A Chaotic Scene

The incident occurred just before midnight in a venue packed with patrons.

“It was a very dangerous situation,” said Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly. “Multiple rounds were fired inside the business.”

A Douglas County deputy nearby responded quickly to an active shooter call and encountered a man armed with a handgun in the parking lot. When the man refused to drop his weapon and turned toward the deputy, he was shot and later died.

The 23rd Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is now investigating the officer-involved shooting.

Legal Proceedings Underway

Crowley-Sanders appeared in court Monday, where the judge set her bond at $1 million cash and barred her from leaving Colorado. A protection order was also issued.

“I think the public should have heightened scrutiny any time a government official uses their authority to take a life,” said District Attorney George Brauchler, who emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation.
