Denver Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with a Touch of Green
St. Patrick’s Day, a celebration of Irish heritage, is almost here! While parades, green beer, and leprechaun traps are popular traditions, the day originally honored Saint Patrick, who brought Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century.
Irish ancestry is surprisingly widespread in the United States. Over 30 million U.S. residents, or slightly more than 9%, claim some Irish heritage. Denver itself has a sizeable Irish population – over 622,000 residents, or roughly 10.7% of the city, report having Irish roots. That means there will be plenty of people in Denver raising a glass and celebrating their Irish heritage this St. Patrick’s Day!
