Trucker Lane Restrictions Coming to I-70?
Colorado lawmakers are considering a bill that would restrict where semi-trucks can drive on Interstate 70. Originally aiming for a full stretch, the amended Senate Bill 100 now targets specific areas known for congestion and safety concerns.
These zones include Glenwood Canyon, Vail Pass, Eisenhower-Johnson Tunnel, and Georgetown Hill. If the bill passes, semi-trucks found driving in the left lane on these sections of I-70 would be committing a traffic violation.
The bill also increases fines for speeding commercial vehicles and gives the Colorado Department of Transportation the power to mandate chain use on specific highways during winter months.
