A man believed to be responsible for a major fire last November in downtown Littleton is in custody after his arrest in Denver on Thursday.
James Daigle, 39, is accused of setting fire to a three-story building under construction on the corner of Main Street and Prince Street early on the morning of November 17th. The flames quickly spread to an adjacent four-story apartment building, displacing six families.
Sixty firefighters battled the blaze and successfully prevented it from engulfing the apartment building. However, significant water damage forced the evacuation of six units.
Following an investigation, the Littleton Police Department identified Daigle as a suspect and issued an arrest warrant in December. Denver police officers apprehended him on Thursday.
Daigle now faces charges of second-degree arson, second-degree criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment.
