83-Year-Old Colorado Man Wins $3.1 Million Lotto Jackpot
Jerold C., an 83-year-old from Pueblo, Colorado, has struck it big, claiming a Colorado Lotto+ jackpot worth $3,099,213. The lucky ticket was purchased at Winner’s Corner, a lottery and board game shop located at 310 North Main Street in Pueblo. According to lottery officials, the cash value of the jackpot is just over $1.5 million. The odds of hitting the jackpot were an astonishing one in 3.84 million, making Jerold’s win a remarkable stroke of luck.
Jerold’s win comes as part of a streak for the Jackpocket app, where he is the third player in the U.S. — and the first in Colorado — to win at least $1 million in the past 10 days. This app, which allows users to play lottery games from their mobile devices, has seen only 54 winners of $1 million or more nationwide, according to a news release from the app.
Colorado’s lottery luck has been flowing this year. Before Jerold’s big win on October 5, other notable Colorado Lotto+ wins included a $1.5 million prize sold at a 7-11 in Carbondale on August 26, a $5.7 million win at Sundance Drug and Liquor in Aspen on August 9, and a $1.1 million win at a King Soopers in Thornton on August 6. It’s been a thrilling few months for lottery players across the Centennial State, and Jerold C. is the latest to join the ranks of Colorado’s newest millionaires.
