Man Arrested for DUI in Wheat Ridge Claims to Be a ‘Professional Drinker’A driver was arrested for DUI after causing a multi-vehicle crash and admitting to consuming 10 alcoholic drinks prior to driving.

The crash occurred on Dec. 4 around 5:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Wadsworth Boulevard. Officers from the Wheat Ridge Police Department responded to the scene, where one of the involved drivers openly admitted to his excessive alcohol consumption.
Body-worn camera footage released by the police captured the driver stating, “I’m going to tell you right now, like, I’m a professional drinker.” When questioned further, he estimated having “probably 10” drinks that night.
Blood Alcohol Content and Arrest
The driver was arrested and transported to the police department, where a breath test revealed a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .326—more than four times the legal limit for driving.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
DUI Trends in Wheat Ridge
The Wheat Ridge Police Department noted a troubling rise in DUI-related incidents this year. Through October, DUI crashes in the city have increased by 36%, with DUI arrests up by approximately 27%.
