A beloved Denver gastropub, The Brutal Poodle, fell victim to an early morning robbery on Monday.
Owner Ryan Oakes described a normal start to the week until his business partner discovered the back door propped open. Upon entering, they found the register ransacked and floor strewn with debris.
While the cash register contained minimal funds, the real loss came from the office safe. The thieves cracked the safe, stealing approximately $7,000 and customer credit cards left for safekeeping.
Security footage captured the culprits – a pair who arrived on a motorcycle, hopped the fence, and broke in using a crowbar. The video shows one suspect clad in a ski mask and leather chaps.
Despite the setback, Oakes expressed his appreciation for the community’s support. “The outpouring has been incredible,” he said. “We’ve always been about giving back, and this support feels amazing.”
Police are reviewing the footage in hopes of identifying the suspects.
