If you read the news over the last few years, you are well aware that fentanyl deaths are staining our fine state of Colorado. In fact fentanyl deaths are on the rise year after year. As of tomorrow, there will be more help for those struggling with this dangerous addiction.
Community Medical Services is a new outpatient opioid treatment center opening in Aurora. CMS will open its doors Friday the 28th at 14300 E. Exposition Ave. Tomorrow, the 27th, they will be hosting an open house from 10am-3pm.
The center will offer medications such as methadone in combination with counseling and peer support. These facilities exist around the country, but this will be the first one to open here in Colorado.
As drug overdoses and deaths are on the rise, Colorado is in need of something to hello the community that is suffering with addiction. Fentanyl in particular is responsible for a majority of the drug-related deaths in the state.
Center leaders say the goal is to expand access to treatment. They don’t want transportation or payment to stop those from seeking and receiving help. No appointments are necessary to get help. Walk-ins are welcomed with open arms.
The center will be open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
