Ray Liotta, best known for his role in Goodfellas, has passed away in his sleep at 67 years old. He was engaged to fiancée Jacy Nittolo, who was with him when he died. No foul play is expected.
According to his publicist, Jennifer Allen, Liotta was working on a project in the Dominican Republic called ‘Dangerous Waters’ when he passed.
He is survived by his daughter, Karsen and his fiancée, Jacy Nittolo.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Liotta was the adopted son of Alfred and Mary Liotta.
He attended Union High School where he shined at sports and went on to attend the University of Miami, where he studied drama and was cast in his first play, “Cabaret.”
After graduating from college, Liotta moved to New York City where he landed work in commercials and was cast as Joey Perrini on the daytime soap opera “Another World,” in which he appeared from 1978 to 1981.
From there, he secured many roles that launched him into stardom, including films, “Something Wild”, “Field of Dreams” and possibly his most well known role as a tough guy, in “Goodfellas.”
Despite being known as a tough guy, this was not Ray’s persona. He was actually quite gentle and kind, never having gotten into a fight himself. He will be missed.
Hollywood and the world has lost a gentleman, a star, and a Good Fella.
Rest in Peace, Ray Liotta.
