The Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup championship on Sunday evening after defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6. As people near and far celebrated with amusement and amazement, some were in shock while others knew they were destined to win.
Nathan Mackinnon knew.
As Nathan Mackinnon was interviewed by television interviewers, he told reporters that he knew the Avs would win the Stanley Cup. He knew this because his room number at his hotel during his stay during the championship game was room 1787. So it was fate.
Why is it fate? 87 happens to be the number of Sidney Crosby. Crosby and Mackinnon are both Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia natives and longtime friends. Mackinnon has been to a couple of Stanley Cup parties for friend and idol Sidney Crosby. But with that synchronicity of the numbers aligning, Mackinnon just knew it meant he’d be hosting his own party. One that Crosby and Mackinnon can share a beer at, both Championship winners, both with names engraved on the Stanley Cup.
