For 23 years, Film on the Rocks has been bringing movies to Red Rocks. Denver Film, and Denver Arts and Venues has 5 shows this Summer. The Films all have Pre-Show entertainment starting at 7AM. Then the movie starts at Dusk. All these shows are on Mondays, and tickets are $16 a person.
Here are this Summer’s Movies:
June 13: Thor: Ragnarok
It’s Thor and Hulk in a strange land fighting strange monsters. And each other. Loki is there, as well as Thor’s Sister. We also meet Valkrie and Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster for one of the more humorous Marvel Movies out there.
July 18: The Sandlot
You’re Killing Me Smalls! Ever since 1993, this was the Childhood Baseball movie. We learned what it took to get a kiss from Wendy Peffercorn, why you shouldn’t play baseball with an autographed ball, and the worst thing you could say to someone is “You Play Ball like a Girl.”
July 25: The Greatest Showman
Hugh Jackman, Zendaya, and Zak Efron tell the tale of the Rise of the PT Barnum Circus Empire. Lots of Music and old time Circus entertainment, wrapped up in a Love story. There’s probably going to be lots of singing along at this one.
August 1: Summer of Soul
This is the newest movie featured in the film lineup this year. This movie was produced by Questlove of the Roots, or Jimmy Fallon. It is a documentary about the Harlem Cultural Festival in 1969. It won numerous awards at Sundance and has a 99% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
August 15: Dune
We’re not sure if this is the 1984 Dune with Kyle Maclachlan, or the 2021 Dune with Timothee Chalamet and Oscar Isaac, but either way, it’s about controlling the spice. It’s a longer movie, so I’d recommend bringing a seat cushion.
