Volkswagen unveiled the new ID.4 GTX, a high-performance version of its electric crossover with sportier styling and a dual-motor setup producing 295 horsepower.
VW boss says the car is 440 pounds lighter than the ID.4 GTX and has a drift mode.
“We just introduced the ID.4 GTX,” Brandstätter said on Linkedin. “Our first electric performance model is very well received even with our engineers—because with it they have discovered the fun of developing high-performance electric cars. And so we just let them do it.
The Volkswagen brand ID.4 a brand new nameplate. It’s the first in a series of all-electric models that will combine to create the ID sub-brand. the single-motor rear-wheel-drive models will be the first to launch.
The battery pack holds enough power for the SUV to travel 260 miles between charges, which puts it in the mix with other electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Kona Electric and the Kia Niro EV.
