Happy Veterans Day Weekend!
“Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor ALL those who served honorably in the military – in wartime or peacetime. In fact, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served – not only those who died – have sacrificed and done their duty,” says the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Many Coloradans will honor those who serve and sacrifice for our country this weekend. Here are three ways to show your support and say thank you to our Veterans this weekend:
Veterans Day Parade: The Denver Veterans Day Parade will be held at City Park Saturday at 9 a.m. Click here for more information.
Festival: The festival will occur from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Park.
5K and 10K run/walk: The memorial 5K and 10K run can be done in person or virtually and is open to everyone. If you opt for the in-person option, prepare to meet at Denver’s City Park. The 10K starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, and the 5K starts at 9:15 a.m.
Online registration is open, and day-of registration will also be available. All proceeds support Colorado veterans through the Colorado Veterans Project. For more information, click here.
