It was a typical day in Parker until a large hole appeared, causing the closure of Bradbury Ranch Drive.
A video obtained by Denver7 captured by Liz Gates shows the moment when a hole opened in the middle of the road. According to the outlet, “Bradbury Ranch Drive is shut down until further notice between Independence and McClellan Drive as the city’s public works department is working the scene.”
While many have to figure out a way around the pothole, the police department did advise that the sinkhole didn’t cut off access to any part of the neighborhood where residents would need access to their homes.
According to Business Insider, the cause of sinkholes can vary from broken water mains, sewage pipes, and even drain pipes underneath the road. Seasonal changes can also take a toll on the streets, and what lies underneath it causes a shift in the “groundwater table.”
While the police work on figuring out what caused the sinkhole, part of Parker was under a flood warning on Sunday due to heavy rainfall.
