Witness Recounts Wild Chase Ending at CU’s Folsom Field
A chaotic chase through Boulder on Thursday night culminated in a dramatic arrest at Folsom Field on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, following a hit-and-run incident.
The situation began when a driver fled the scene of a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Foothills Parkway and Arapahoe Avenue. According to the Boulder Police Department, the suspect then led officers on a pursuit that ended on the grounds of CU’s iconic football stadium, Folsom Field.
CU Boulder Police alerted the public to the incident at 7:23 p.m., urging people to steer clear of the area due to a heavy police presence. Less than 30 minutes later, at 7:44 p.m., the department announced that the suspect had been taken into custody. While the arrest had been made, the area remained under a secure status as officers completed their investigation.
A witness to the chase, who wished to remain anonymous, described the tension as the suspect’s vehicle entered the campus. “It was surreal. You don’t expect to see a police chase end in a football stadium,” the witness said. “I was walking nearby when I saw the police cars racing toward Folsom Field. People were confused and trying to figure out what was happening.”
The Boulder Police Department, in coordination with CU Boulder police, managed the arrest and emphasized that there was no danger to the broader community. Despite the unusual location of the chase’s conclusion, authorities were able to contain the situation quickly and without incident.
The stadium, typically known for its roaring crowds on game day, became the unexpected site of a dramatic police action, leaving many students and residents in awe of the night’s events. The investigation remains ongoing, but authorities reassured the public that the incident was isolated, and no additional threats emerged during the arrest.
