Porch Pirate Uses Stolen School Bus as Getaway Vehicle
A porch pirate in Denver made a bold escape in a stolen, white-painted school bus, a move caught on surveillance footage and now circulating on social media. The theft took place on February 17 near 38th Avenue and Sheridan, with the suspect snatching packages in broad daylight before fleeing in the unusual getaway vehicle.
Authorities located the abandoned bus on 38th Avenue in Wheat Ridge, finding five discarded packages with Denver addresses inside, but the suspect was gone. A VIN check revealed the bus was stolen from Golden, and it has since been returned to its original owner. Police are analyzing evidence, including DNA swabs, to track down the thief.
Wheat Ridge Police believe the bus has been involved in multiple crimes and are urging the public to report any tips to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
