Denzel Washington Delivers Powerful Pep Talk to CU Football Team
The University of Colorado Boulder football team received an inspiring message from legendary actor and director Denzel Washington as they prepare for the 2025-26 season. Coach Deion “Prime” Sanders, known for bringing A-list celebrities to Boulder, introduced Washington to the team via video call, adding to the impressive roster of high-profile supporters, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Lil Wayne, and Wu-Tang Clan.
In his speech, Washington encouraged the players to embrace both the highs and lows of their journey. “When you pray for rain, you gotta deal with the mud too,” he said, reminding them that challenges lead to growth. He also warned them about the fleeting nature of fame, advising them to rely on faith rather than public approval.
At the end of his speech, Washington made a bold prediction, telling the team they were destined for the national championship. “If y’all don’t send me a ticket when you get there, don’t ever go to none of my movies again,” he joked, emphasizing his belief in their success.
With Sanders at the helm and a growing fanbase that now includes Washington, CU football is gearing up for a highly anticipated season, kicking off against Georgia Tech at Folsom Field on Aug. 30.
