In a typical year, Colorado sees about 110 bank robberies. During the Lock down, that number dropped to 90, but bank robbers are making up for lost time… There were 195 heists last year. Denver went from from 19 in 2020 up to 65 last year. According to the Colorado FBI Office, this makes Colorado the leader in Bank Robberies in the whole country.
The size of the haul can vary. People got away with as little as $180 ins ome cases, and as much as $6100 in others. About 60% of the bank robberies in Colorado are solved. It also appears that robbing banks can be addictive. One man was charged with robbing 12 banks in 3 months. Another man was arrested after trying to rob the same bank 2 days in a row, while another was busted for robbing banks right after getting out of jail for… you guessed it: Bank Robbery.
Banks don’t like to comment on the Bank Robberies. They are more concerned with their employees safety than the actual cash. The cash is insured, and will be returned to the bank in some fashion.
This isn’t the only place where we’re at the top of the list. We also lead the country in Car Thefts!
