Suspected DUI Driver Arrested After Eluding Police, Driving on Three Rims on I-25
A 64-year-old driver was arrested Monday morning after a police pursuit ended on Interstate 25. Westminster police attempted to stop the driver, who was weaving in and out of traffic near 93rd Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard. The driver, in a black RAM 2500 pickup truck, failed to maintain a consistent speed and evaded the officers’ efforts to pull him over.
The vehicle was later spotted on U.S. 36 near Church Ranch Boulevard, prompting police to pursue. The pursuit continued until officers deployed tire deflation sticks on I-25 south of U.S. 36, causing the vehicle’s tires to deflate. The driver continued at slow speeds, eventually driving on three rims.
Officers arrested the 64-year-old driver, who was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges including vehicular eluding and driving under the influence. His identity has not been released, and a full list of charges has not been provided.
Authorities encourage anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired to call 911 or dial *277 for the Colorado State Patrol.
