Denver revamped the Marijuana rules in November, and they finally allowed for Private Clubs to be licensed under the Hospitality umbrella. Now Hotels, Coffee Shops, and Private Clubs will offer a place for visitors to use Marijuana, other than an alley off the 16th Street Mall.
The first license was grandfathered in for the Coffee Joint. Anyone who had an old Cannabis License, got the new Hospitality license when it expired. They do not allow for indoor smoking though, focusing on Vaping and Edibles. The Coffee Joint is Located at 11th and Yuma. That’s right off I-25 near where the Big DazBog Building is.
The second license was given out Monday, to Tetra Lounge in the RiNo neighborhood. They operated previously as a Private Club, but the license revamp caused them to pause for a while. They still need some inspections and some signatures, and then they can open, hopefully for the 4-20 Holiday. It is still a “Private Club” but the requirements for joining are pretty relaxed: You must be 21+ and you must have $20. That’s a one day membership. You can get a month for $50, or for $350, you can smoke there every day for a year.
There are a few licenses in the works. One is an upscale boutique hotel, and the other is a Weed Lounge with a store attached, so you can buy and smoke at the same place. Currently all the other locations are BYOW.
